Mr. Chuck Cheng, Founder & CEO, AppoTech Ltd.

Chuck Cheng is a true industrialist with 20+ years of IC design industry experience.  Prior to forming AppoTech, Chuck founded 4 Silicon Valley-based startups.  Although two of these went bankrupt, the others became hugely profitable.  He was a founding team member of Advancel Logic, a company which was spun off into 4 companies that sold for a total of US$15 billion.

Established in 2003, AppoTech is a highly successful Hong Kong-based technology startup.  The company is a fabless Integrated Circuit (IC) design company and has won numerous awards for entrepreneurship and technological achievement.  Most recently, AppoTech won the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award in 2012.  In 2011, Chuck Cheng, AppoTech’s Founder, CEO & President also won the Winner of Entrepreneur of the Year (China) Award.  In 2005, Chuck Cheng won the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong, with the award presented to him by then Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) the Honorable Joseph Yam.

Among the many startup lessons Chuck has learned over the years he will share the following with the audience:

About our speaker:

Chuck Cheng
Founder, CEO & President, AppoTech Ltd.

Chuck Cheng has 20+ years of IC design industry experience, mostly in Silicon Valley. He is the founder of 4 Silicon Valley-based startups, two of which went bankrupt. He is also founding team member of Advancel Logic, which was spun off into 4 companies which sold for a total of US$15 billion.  One of the spin-offs was acquired by Qualcomm.

Chuck Cheng is the holder of 9 US Patents.  He was the designer of the world’s 1st 32-bit CPU (NS32000) at National Semiconductor and the SX28 (Top 10 processor award by In-Stat).  He won the Entrepreneur of the Year (China) Award in 2011, and won the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong in 2005.  Chuck Cheng is a Board member of Hong Kong Government’s ASTRI & and an Advisor at HKTDC.

He holds an MS in Management from Stanford University, an MSEE from Cornell University, and BSEE & BSCS degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
