We are very pleased to announce that Dr David Chung will be presenting at TEN on Thursday 16 June.

Dr Chung will talk about the HK Governments recent initiatives on promoting innovation and technology, including the $2 billion Innovation and Technology Venture Fund, announced in January, which aims to assist tech startups and SMEs with funding from private venture funds through a matching process, and to develop a sustainable innovation and technology ecosystem for Hong Kong.

He will set this in the context of the overall framework of support for entrepreneurship and explain how all the new innovation and technology funds will work.

This will be a key event and will provide essential information for both entrepreneurs and investors in Hong Kong.

After the presentations, the session will continue in an interactive Q&A format where members and guests are encouraged to discuss relevant issues with our guest speakers.

This event is FREE for TEN MEMBERS and HK$100 for non-members and guests.

About our speaker:
Dr David Chung Wai-keung, JP
Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, HK Government

Dr Chung is the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology. His role is to strengthen government cooperation with industry, academia and the research sector, to foster the development of innovation and technology to promote the development of high-end manufacturing industry, and to enhance the nurture of innovation and technology talents. The aim is to create a vibrant ecosystem for innovation and technology in Hong Kong.

Dr Chung has over 28 years of experience in information technology (IT) strategic management and entrepreneurship development. Before joining the Government, Dr Chung worked as Chief Technology Officer at Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport), responsible for taking forward Cyberports core mission on IT infrastructure, industry collaboration and incubation platforms for IT entrepreneurs. He also assisted Cyberport in setting up the first Micro Fund Scheme in Hong Kong for young information and communications technology (ICT) entrepreneurs. This scheme has been extended to drive collaboration among Hong Kong-Shenzhen as well as Hong Kong-Guangdong young ICT entrepreneurs.

Dr Chung was a winner of the "China Top 5 CIO Award" in 2013. He was active in public service and served as Council Member of the Hong Kong Computer Society, Member of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Expert Committee on Cloud Computing Services and Standards, Convenor of the IT Expert Advisory Group of the Consumer Council, and as Member of the Information Services Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as well as City University of Hong Kongs Departmental Advisory Committee for Electronic Engineering.

He is a former Director of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network (HKBAN).
